CALIGIRL'S COMMENT
I heard about Kornelia back in the Quake 1 old school days about her being the Queen of Quake. It wasn't until the second all female tournament called Queen of the Hills in 1998 where I was able to see her play on a server with some real action playing Quake. Kornelia won the LPB division (low ping on the server) of the tournament and another girl playing in the tournament  won the HPB division (high ping) was Killcreek (someone I never heard about until that day). Once the tournament was over I asked both Kornelia and Killcreek for an interview at my website. I lost touch with both of them once the interviews were released.

A few months flew by and I was playing on the kitty Quake 1 server with my buddy XP-Pookie. She tells me there's some girls that were going to join the server to play Team Deathmatch. Pookie told me before they joined that I would be on her team since I was in XP and these girls would be playing against us. I didn't think anything of it until I see a name log on. It was Kornelia. My hands started shaking and I didn't know what to do. I knew the level very well too. EVERYONE knew DM6, it was a team map.

As soon as the match started I ran around the map like a chicken with it's head cut off. Making sure I stay out of any rooms on the map she was in.  I usually knew where she was most of the time because I'd hear so much commotion and the cry of death in the next room. When I heard that I ran the other direction for my life! hehe. :)

Little do I know, she's a sly fox. Just as I tried turning around she runs around the corner, zaps me with her lightning gun and not even a few seconds later she is using the Rocket Launcher. It was like I was hit with real lightning. I sat there thinking what the!? That was only 5 seconds and so much happened. We played for about 45 minutes and the match was one of the most unforgettable match I have ever known. Still to this day I wont play her at even Q3, she makes me too nervous!

The great thing about the past year was when I moved to Irvine in March 2001 to work for Gamespy (Mplayer was bought out by them so I re-located to work from the headquarters). I had the pleasure of being able to work in the same company with Kornelia during this time. I was able to get to know her as a person, not just a female champion of two id Software games. She's a treasure to anyone that gets to know her on a personal level. There's nothing like being able to communicate with a person who has other passions in life like compasses. She's not just a person who surrounds her life in gaming, she's a genuine girl who knows what she enjoys in life and won't let anyone tell her how to change it.
