The
beginning of Quake III
When id Software first
released the Q3test (Q3 Demo), many girls I knew that played
either Quake I or Quake 2 were ecstatic. Once most of them
installed the Q3test they were still excited but it wouldn't
run on their computer like many other games could. Sadly
enough, I saw a frown on most of them because they honestly
felt it wasn't time to buy a whole new system right then.
As time flew by and the
retail version of Quake III Arena was released on the shelves,
many of those girls had to buy the game no matter if it ran or
not on their computer. To most of them it was as necessary to
have Q3A as it is to have toilet paper. Please excuse that
context but in other words... they honestly couldn't do
without because they were true gamers.
My brother bought the
game as well so I tried it before I bought my own copy weeks
later. The sad part about this all, no matter how awesome
Quake III Arena was on fast computers, my female buddies were
having problems with the game crashing because their systems
just couldn't take it. The main issue I kept hearing with just
about everyone was Voodoo 2 and 3 wasn't running the game
correctly. Once there was some fixes to that problem, things
started running much more smoothly.
When I first played the
retail of the game I felt it was much better than Quake 2. I
just needed to get the gameplay down better. I didn't like the
way the model walked in the game, it kept bobbing up and down,
side to side with each step so I asked my brother DarkViper
what I could do to tweak the game. To tell you the truth, that
bopping may seem more realistic for a game but it made me too
dizzy. hehe :)
