My
Encounter with these creative guys...
Walking through the
hall to get away from the West Hall was a little harder than I
expected Thursday morning. Everyone pretty much wanted to get
where I already was so going against the flow was a pain. I
have a feeling it was the Nintendo Game Cube or Game Boy
Advance that most of them desired to see. All I wanted to do
is get away from it.
On my way up the ramp
to South Hall, I had something that caught my attention. Two
very nice looking men dressed in identical shirts. One had
blonde hair and the other brown. The blonde guy was strolling
some suitcase on wheels carefully as he dodged the crowd. Once
he was in the clearing he looked a little more satisfied with
his journey that he actually made it through in one piece
without anything tipping over. I walked up to ask the brown
haired guy about the game mentioned on the back of his shirt.
I couldn't handle just not saying anything with the impressive
art detail on it. He was very happy I noticed it. Being an old
timer and fanatic for Top Cow's comics, I told him it reminded
me of that style of art. I left them and went my own journey
for the rest of the day. Seeing both of them about 4-5 times
during that day but only waving to them when they noticed me.
By that evening I
walked to the entrance of the convention center to check
outside for anyone I knew. Skimming everyone's heads I saw a
whole crew of StarBreeze Studios guys in those awesome shirts
again. Being the curious girl I am, I noticed that the two
guys I met earlier that morning weren't there so I went to see
what these six guys were up to. Much like the first two guys,
these guys were just as friendly. One of them in the batch
looked familiar so it bothered me that I couldn't remember
where I have seen him before.
By the time I was
finished talking to them I found out that I did know one of
the guys from a Professional Gamers League event I attended in
1998. He was in the StarCraft competition as the nickname of
something on the order of Froggy. After talking to them for at
least forty-five minutes I realized I never actually
introduced myself. How rude is that? So out of the blue I
said, "By the way, my name is Jody Robinson. I am also
known as Cali Girl online." One of the guys said,
"What! Cali Girl from GX? Not Gamers Extreme's Cali
Girl?" I was relieved yet honored that two of them knew
of me. It gave me that feeling that I have known them for
years from them knowing my background.
They pretty much gave
me an outline on an upcoming title StarBreeze Studios will be
working on. Being a Real Time Strategy addict in the past, I
am automatically drawn to games that have this style of
gameplay so I was intrigued with the concept.
Right now most of the
StarBreeze Studios team is working on an upcoming fantasy
first person shooter called Enclave. The game is going to be
on the X-box platform. I checked out movie teaser at the booth
and felt it has a creative touch. It basically showed off the
characters but in a way that made me even more curious about
the game. You can count on me to keep an eagle's eye on this
one.
