March 2000

March 1, 2000
Good Morning! Today is a beautiful day outside. I don't want to stay indoors at all! I ended up playing the Excessive Mod (server side mod, no need to download anything) on the Mellow Gold Mplayer server last night. I can say one thing... Amazing. Those rockets are wicked in that game. It's hard to get out of the way when someone is targeting you. It's pretty interesting how the longer you stay away from danger, harm, and don't shoot bullets... It re-loads your health and ammo to run around and shoot again. Very different, I like it just for fun. Not to actually play too much, I'll end up getting spoiled and and want that much power in the Q3 retail version.

I worked most of the night on this new upcoming site for Lionhead's strategy game, Black & White. Don't you love it when a friend can tell you an honest opinion on something and not try to sugar coat it? Friends can be so cool some times. :)

What is it about 1 on 1 Quake III Arena games that makes the game feel so interesting. Maybe having to be so extremely quiet so the person won't hear you coming around the corner has something to do with it? I enjoy crawling when I have to do that. It's very effective because of the foot step noises are pretty loud, I don't like just walking regular around a corner. I just got done playing a quick 1 on 1 Q3 DM game with a friend from work. I just realized how him and I are almost at the same experience level. We almost tied at the game.

Today is another beautiful day, very sunny! Last night I tried this interesting food place with Desmoden I ordered a very tasty dish, spinach tortellini with chicken, sun dried tomatoes, and regular tomatoes. It was rich in flavor, very nice for the first time of trying something I wasn't used to. :)

March 4, 2000
I took a break from my new life today to play Quake 3 Arena with some of my XP Friends: XP-Chael, XP-Torak, XP-Quazimodem, XP-Lux and XP-Pookie! Then my buddy, LQMS|Caitlin joined in on the fun. It was so much fun just playing the RailGun only, I really need to get better at that weapon. I never use it because I haven't really spent time using it a lot.

Just playing with the RailGun on the a GX server really can enhance your skills on that weapon. If any of you have been wanting to get better at that gun, try playing on a map that ONLY has the Rail Gun, and no other weapons on it. We all played on the Gamers Extreme server so I would check around for a server that has it, it really helps! I started getting better and better with it because I had no way I could go find a Rocket launcher or Plasma Gun. ;)

Woop! So much to do today, so little time to complete it all. I do want to get in a game of Asheron's Call this evening. Wish me well!

March 10, 2000
Attending the Gamers Developer's Convention!

March 11, 2000
Phew! Just got back from GDC. I was very disappointed once I arrived there today. I found out I forgot the camera at the office because I was loading digital pictures on the PC. I can't believe I forgot the camera today! Dang... Oh well, I guess I'll have to work extra hard tomorrow at the GDC. Still tired but it was a lot of fun no matter how much I whine. ;)

Also, Last night a lot of us went out to see that Mission to Mars movie. It was really good until around the ending part. I wasn't too impressed on how the last 15-20 minutes of the movie went but other than that, it was a good flick.

March 12, 2000
Finally the last day for GDC. I did try Quake III Arena on a Macintosh computer yesterday at the event. It was pretty interesting to play on a whole new computer that I am not too familiar with. The only problem I was having to play well was the mouse and the mouse cursor speed, it was way too fast for my mind to handle. Other than that, I was amazed on how nice Quake III Arena ran on a Macintosh computer. I do have to admit that I am still too used to a PC though. What was kind of funny that happened today though, Dark Viper played Quake III Arena against Kornelia at the Gamespy booth today. It was fun watching the game. Other than that, I am beat... nighty night!

I am getting more awake now that I ate a chicken sandwich. It's funny how food can really pick up your day. Then again, I really get frustrated when I order a spicy crispy sandwich and end up getting a Ranch Crispy sandwich. It really makes my day feel messed up for some reason. I love ranch stuff, don't get me wrong. But when it's not creamy (I love the buttermilk ranch dressing by the way) and it's a bit sour, I don't really like it. Especially when I was REALLY craving spicy food at the moment. To look at the good side of things, at least she didn't give me a fish sandwich. It was something on the order of what I asked for, just not what I ordered. If it wasn't a drive-thru and I was eating inside, I think I would of been able to walk up but it's not worth driving all the way back from work just to go back and say this is the wrong sandwich. Then I ordered this small side salad and I get this HUGE chicken (double the size) salad. How am I supposed to eat that huge sandwich (which is bigger than the spicy one) and a HUGE salad... argh! I went ahead and saved the salad for dinner tonight, didn't have any room for it.

I guess by me being tired from staying up and working until 3am, It sort of had me very irritated from not getting my full sleep. I love sleep! At least 8 will do great. But now that I ate something, and the sandwich was 'ok', I can live with it. Sorry about that, by me telling you guys. I feel I can push it all aside, and go on with my day! ;)

March 14, 2000
Today has been a rocky day. I don't even want say how it's been. I feel so incredibly sad out of no where. It's that feeling where you feel someone stabbed you in the heart (not physically, but you know what I mean?). Pretty ugly, it hit me just now... hmm. Who's up for a Quake III Arena game this evening?  Let me know (or through email) what time you all can play. I think a good game of Quake III Arena will cheer me up in no time! I was thinking to hop on a server around 6PM PST or maybe 7PM PST. I'll try to make a post here on what server I go on.

7:10 PM: Okay! Checking these two servers right now:
208.240.51.188:27960
208.240.51.184:27960

Then if I don't get a great ping. I am going to go on the Quake3world.com Hangout server:
216.35.30.76:27961 (I think that's the same IP still)

8:36 PM: Thanks for the games guys!

March 15, 2000
As for real life stuff (you know.. not virtual... wait, maybe it is)... I went to the gym last night and then came back to the office to find two of the guys I work with playing Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast system. There was NO WAY I was going to let them play without me. I played Soul Calibur in the arcades last October when I went to Las Vegas for a Tour of Westwood Studios. I have always loved Fighting games like Street Fighter and Virtual Fighter so I really enjoyed Soul Calibur a lot. I just haven't ever tried playing it on Dreamcast and now I am in love with the game! ;) Darkviper ended up coming by and playing with us. Then Brenda, another girl I work with started playing for her first time too. I had a blast last night! Thanks for the games Jeff and Steve! :)

Woops! Came in later than expected today.  I wanted to let you guys see a really cute song that Fusion Addict and a couple of the other Song finalists at Quake3world.com sent me. It was a song in appreciation for running the Quake III Song Contest. Although, I don't get any eyestrain. ;) Thanks guys, you are all too sweet!

Song Title: "Cali-Girl"
Based On: "Spider-Man"

March 17, 2000
Good Morning! I am here early today... I played a lot of Quake III Arena last night with Rob 'Corn Popper' Lim from Activision. He gets me pretty good at times too. Just when I think I have him, he pulls some type of new strategy! argh

March 18, 2000
Good Morning! It's such a beautiful day outside, I had this incredible urge to just take off the day and go to the beach.. Maybe I'll take off tomorrow and then come in and work on stuff tomorrow night. It just sounds REALLY good right now. Well, I have so many things I would like to get done today, errands, and many other projects.
I would really like to get my California Girl's Corner of the Net (homepage) design.

March 19, 2000
Oops!  I left around 11am to go to the beach and I finally just now got back. It was too nice of a day to sit in the office. ;)

March 23, 2000
I just got back from eating a HUGE burrito for lunch. I couldn't eat the whole thing but I am so full, feel sort of lazy now. lol.   I honestly don't know what's worse... Is having your stomach growl and hurt because your hungry worse than being extremely full? They both have an irritating ache don't they? hmm. I'll never get it. I guess if I nibble on food from time to time I wouldn't have this problem but I eat like once to twice a day. I don't like eating so many times during the day. Ok, enough of the food business.

March 25, 2000
Woops! What happened to Cali today, huh?  Nope, I wasn't ignoring you guys. I ended up taking longer on a hike I went on today in Deer Hollow. It's so extremely beautiful out here with the trees... flowers. Even those cute little lizards, how they make much noise when they run then they stop and tilt their head looking at you. :)  After that, I had a lunch and was tempted to go see Jet Li's new movie, Romeo Must Die. That movie was awesome! I really got into it much more than I have in some of his movies in the past. Wow, if you are wanting to see a full action movie this weekend... go see that one.  The movie has a couple of those twists, I'd go watch it again myself!

March 26, 2000
Back from hiking again. Wow, it's just too beautiful of a place. I wandered even farther this time. The more you get into the hiking trail, the more beautiful it gets. It's so perfect looking some times that it makes me feel it's like a live looking role playing game. I'll try to take some pictures some time. I'll always thank my buddy Desmoden for guiding me to that cool place. I am so exhausted right now but I still feel energetic for some reason.  :)

March 29, 2000
Hmm. Today has been an interesting day... I have lots of things to do but not having my other computer, it makes it a tad harder. So I am sitting here thinking where should I start first? I guess what don't help is the IRC chat in my system tray blinking every time someone says Cali, California or Jody... lol. :)

Late last night I ran into a very close buddy of mine in IRC, K9-Bitter (many of you may remember him as Bitterboy, or from previous PGL events). He's been a very good and close friend from the past so I talked to him a long time about old Quake and Quake 2 times, and so forth. I do want to play him Quake III Arena but from getting knocked around in Quake when we used to play, I am sort of skittish about it all.  Since I moved up to Northern California, I didn't realize he works only about 20 minutes away from where I do. :)

That reminds me, keep an eye out for another announcement about K9Con, it should be held in San Jose, California... I believe the event will be in the month of August but there should be more information about that event some time in the near future. Well, here comes some Quake III Arena news. :)

Arg! I am craving some really spicy food tonight. Something like Salsa and chips would do great. If only I could order some to-go so I could get it delivered, that would be really cool! One of the guys I work with told me we had some fertilizer from the front of the building... Do you think that would hit the spot? hmm.... Welp, going to work on some more things for Quake3world.com. Be ready for another dose of news kiddos.

March 30, 2000
Last night. when I mentioned that I was craving some spicy food, I ended up going to a nice Mexican restaurant. That right there fulfilled that salsa and chips craving real fast. There's nothing like the fresh taste of homemade salsa. mmhmm. :)

March 31, 2000
Corn Popper (Rob Lim from Activision) has been teaching me this interesting feature ICQ has, the ICQ Active List. I still don't get what it actually features but I do think it's pretty different and fun to try. Oh! That reminds me... I want to give a big birthday wish to my buddy Shadow from Alaska. He always plays me Quake III Arena CTF and DM. Happy Birthday John

I want to see a movie tonight... What do you guys suggest? The Road To El Dorado, The Skulls or High FiFidelity? The Road To El Dorado looks like it will be a cool animated movie. Then again... Skulls looks more exciting... more action oriented which I like. hmm...
