February Pictures
It only took a few minutes for Nicodemus to learn to like his new harness. I have a feeling he didn't mind having one on since he has desired to go outside for the past few months. I put it on and we were off. Below are pictures of him going outside with his harness and how much he loves his new Cat DVD. There's also some photos of how he reacted when his stuffed animal (Leohm) was placed on top of his new scratch post, acting like it was king.

Outside Addiction
Nicodemus has had this passion to leave us ever since we first brought him home. No, not really us... he has always wanted to leave the house. I have been concerned about him even going on the balcony but occasionally I would carry him out there to smell the fresh air. Well, after the incident with the squirrel... I felt he needed to be able to jump outside to protect us so I bought him a harness. I really feel this has changed him drastically though. He's growing up so fast, but he really needed this outside action in his life. He's been a much happier cat the past few weeks since I got the harness. However, he's MUCH more pushy every time I get home from work now. I took him out every day after work the first week I got the harness so now he'll demand for me to take him out. Constantly paces back and forth to the sliding glass door, then the front door, staring at the door knob with his yowling. I wonder what the neighbors passing by think sometimes.

After a long day I am too busy trying to take off my shoes but some how he eventually gets me outside. Yep, he now knows the word outside. Heheh. So if I say that, he'll run to the front door or the balcony screen. There's times he has went to his harness and pulled at it. He constantly makes me think, are you SURE you're a cat?

This last Saturday (Feb. 15th) I was talking to a friend of mine online, then told her Nicodemus was in front of me and the keyboard/computer screen asking me to go outside. I asked him, "Do you want to go outside?" He ran to the door, so I told my friend I'd be back a little later. While I was putting on my shoes I realized I still had laundry in the dryer. I put my hand in front of him, as if to stop, then said "Just a second" as I placed the harness right near the entrance door. Then I said it a few more times to make sure he knew we were going outside but not right then. He stood rubbing his side against the TV.  I grabbed my basket and closed the door. When I came back, he had the harness right in front of him near his chest, he was laying on his belly with this expression like "Are you ready now mommy?"

I am KING of the Scratch Post!
I bought him a new scratch post but now I sort of wish it was bigger. I keep forgetting how big he is getting. Oh well, he likes it. The day I bought it, I decided to test his Kinghood to see what he would do if I put Leohm on TOP of his new scratch post he fell in love with. Check out the results of this... he didn't like it one bit. He obviously feels he is King of this house.

Cats Watching TV? Who would of thought!
In case you didn't know, this Cat Sitter DVD was one of his Valentine's gifts. He likes to plop down right in front of the TV watch it. Occasionally here and there I'll catch him watching regular Movies or items on TV now.

Squirreling Around
Nicodemus was aggressively meowing near the window this day. I had no idea why he had an angry meow. I walked up to see what he was looking at. There was a squirrel on the balcony bar, chirping. He wanted to get this intruder that was sitting on HIS balcony. I told Nicodemus to be nice, as we both watched the squirrel out the sliding glass window. After asking him to be nice he gave me his little kitten meow.

Now I don't know where the heck this critter came from. I have seen a few of them way out in the forest area but they haven't ever came up even near where we are. I think they wanted to either meet or tease Nicodemus. This squirrel was waving it's tail like it was flirting... who knows. I know my cat doesn't look like a squirrel, but I do know he is handsome and could win any critters' heart. ;)

Extra!
Here are some more cute February pictures to squeeze in.

  • Peek-a-boo
This is his favorite hide out spot in the house. He normally runs out to pounce anyone who passed by.
  • Sleepin in a box
He kept trying to sleep in this box so I put a blanket in it, and threw his stuffed animal in there. He decided to make it his new bed, besides his favorite bed of all - the computer desk chair.
