c3 Interview:
Q3 Pro

Nick Name: C3
Real Name:
Timothy Cowan
Birthday:
Currently 17 years old

Background: C3 first started getting seen as a good player during the season of the first QIL Q3 season. According to him, they had the best season record (Team Demolition) but lost to abuse in the playoffs.  He then went to his first tournament which happened to be Cyberarena. After he defeated fatality 6-3, and then lost to him 7-6 in overtime, he was then seen as one of the top players.

Competitions:

  • Cyberarena: 2nd place
  • Battletop Arizona: 2nd place
  • k9Con2: 1st place
  • Battletop NYC: Top 6

Questions 1: What gamer besides yourself do you feel comes to mind as one of the most respected gamers? This would be someone who you felt is respected not only for his gaming skills but for his/her attitude.

Answer: The first gamer that pops in my mind would definitely be Thresh.  Thresh's skill level and strategic edge just made him the best gamer at his time.  There was nothing wrong at all with his attitude which made him a very respected player.

Questions 2: In what way do you feel the Quake community has changed since Quake III Arena came out last year?

Answer:  The community got much more competitive because it is now possible to make a living off of Q3.  Many people's attitudes are gradually getting worse now because of the corruption of money.  Gaming these days seem to be more about the money in most people's eyes than the fun.

Questions 3: Have you had a chance to check the Team Arena Demo yet? If so, what do you enjoy the most about it?

Answer:  I only played it once or twice.  I knew the fps problem will eventually get fixed but something just seemed odd about the gameplay and definitely the rockets.  I was shooting rockets at guys that just spawned and it hit like 10 feet away from him and killed him.  The rockets seem much more powerful off of the spawn than it did in Q1.  The shotgun also seemed odd.  I'm not really impressed by it.

Questions 4: With id Software's new project being focused on Doom, is there any features you would like this upcoming game to include?

Answer: No comment... I have never played doom competitively.

  • Kirk: I played c3{9] on hal 9000 osp 1v1 server and got owned. I was able to get 3 frags on him though. I spectated the next game following him and learned a lot about movement on the map.
