chiQ Interview:
Q3W Team

Nick Name: chiQ
Real Name: Camilla Bennett
Birthday: July 12th
Background:  chiq plays a very strong part at Quake3world.com. Before she started helping out in the Skin of the Week section, and the Bots, Models & Skinning Discussion Forums at Quake3World, she's was always highly known for being a very active person in the forums along with creating skins for Quake III Arena.

Questions 1: What do you enjoy most about the Holidays?

Answer: Being with my immediate family.

Questions 2: Can you explain your current activity in the gaming community? What are the games you have enjoyed since you stopped playing Quake 1?

Answer: I skin, admin a NZ gaming BB, write for the associated site, mod for Q3W, admin comps, do free graphics and sites for gaming organizations, and play in the little time I have left over.

I play Q3, many mods created with it, Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force, and I'm waiting for Alice :)

Questions 3: In what way do you feel the Quake community has changed since Quake III Arena came out last year?

Answer: I don't think it has.

Questions 4: Have you had a chance to check the Team Arena Demo yet? If so, what do you enjoy the most about it?

Answer: Yes, and my favorite aspect is the variety of modes. The new weapons are fun, and the maps should be impressive, but the varied teamplay is the best bit for me.

Questions 5: With id Software's new project being focused on Doom, is there any features you would like this upcoming game to include?

Answer: No, I'm just looking forward to it.

Questions 6: What gamer besides yourself do you feel comes to mind as one of the most respected gamers? This would be someone who you felt is respected not only for his gaming skills but for his/her attitude.

Answer: In NewZealand, I'd have to say Crankshaw, IMO. He plays very well, never makes rude remarks and plays fair ALWAYS. His flatmate Farmer Joe is the same. They also both answer questions, remark good shots or plays from others, and help people out.

  • Chemical Burn: chiQ is a very endearing and dynamic person. You'll not find a more cultured and sophsicated woman, who also calls Quake III her game. She has been an invaluable resource for both input on my own work and inspiration to many others, simply because her own craft is nothing short of stellar.

  • Cyric: Incomparable
    in·com·pa·ra·ble (n-kmpr--bl)
    adj.
    • Being such that comparison is impossible; incommensurable
    • So outstanding as to be beyond comparison
    • Unsurpassed

One word to describe Chiq. From the first time I met her to the first time I played her (still sorry about the chat frag), she has always been there to help me out with anything I have ever needed. Be it from questions from skinning to LAN parties to even helping me through some rough nights, she has always been there for me. She is one person I am proud to say I am friends with.

  • Cali Girl: Back in the older days of the site, ChiQ stood out so much with her little signature saying something like:

"I am women hear me roar."

She was always really fun to talk to on the forums.

More recently she started writing for the Skin of the Week section for Quake3world.com. She has really good taste in Skins. All I can say is that it's rare to see a female gamer with the quality ChiQ brings to Quake3world.com and the gaming community. I wish there were more girls like her. She's bold, sweet and all of the guys adore her... not something you see on a regular basis. What can I say, you rock ChiQ!

  • Atomic: chiQ is very helpful and always has a good attitude.

  • HarlequiNQB: Suffice to say she's wonderful. Both as an admin, and as a skinner.

  • Lady T: I've not had the pleasure of playing quake with her. I do read all of her posts and appreciate her intellect and sense of humor very much! She's one patient girl with our guys in the R&R sandbox!

  • Whiplash-NZ: chiQ rocks. chiQ for president!

  • -PhoeniX-: chiQ's has great skinning talent, I admire them a lot (much like Chemical Burn's).

  • LegionXS: ChiQ is the woman I love. She wont marry me though.

  • Vikingo:  I've talked to chiQ a couple of times on ICQ, she helped me on my first skin.

  • ubirth: chiQ always makes friendly and helpful posts in the discussion forums.

  • Servo: chiQ and Cali are also two others I see around the forums a lot. They don't let any of our childishness bother them.

  • Mr.Sparkle!: I have heard a lot about ChiQ in the forums. Saw few of her posts, she seem friendly and beautiful.

  • -Statik: chiQ is the best. She is a big part of the New Zealand gaming community, making skins for the NQL (nation quake league) and running of nzgames.com. She also has helped out at some comps/lans. The ones that come to mind are 4v4 Sunday comp and Rebirth (LAN 500/600 people lan being biggest in NZ)

  • Mack Daddy Si: chiQ can strip a PC to pieces and reassemble it in mere seconds, is a lethal shot with a railgun, and can suck a tennis ball through a hose. She's a true legend and I exhort everyone to get right behind her. The Skin of the Week features are great.

  • Ard RighchiQ is the bomb. I've chatted to her on a number of occasions and she's on-to-it. I must say, her skinning has improved a lot from the first 'beta' skins that I saw her working on. chiQ's work in the gaming scene in NZ is invaluable.
